Femkuber has previously performed a lift analysis of a prototype turbine for Tidetec, and on Wednesday 21st of September it was time for “lift off” and installation of the prototype in Svelvikstrømmen, a 30 minute drive south from Drammen. Femkuber was on-site to support Tidetec and document the lift.
The lift operation was scheduled to start at 09:00 AM when the tidal current was at its weakest. The prototype turbine is fixed to a steel lifting frame designed according to DNVGL-ST-E273 Portable Offshore Units, utilising four lifting points. The lift was performed by Nordic Cranes.
The lift operation was completed on time, according to plan and without incidents, which meant a successful lift for Tidetec and Femkuber!
